Steven M. Nobles I ("S. M.") has owned and managed SELBON Marketing
Group/SELBON Entertainment
Company ("SEC")since the very beginning. S. M. started his first marketing
company - Complete Focus Marketing in 1985, and has always had a passion
for Marketing, Entertainment and the need to create a versatile
company. This company - a complete full service Marketing, Advertising & Public
Relations company - has also been his passion and entrepreneurial
dream.
With this company established, S. M. looks forward to another 25 years
of growth. He also looks back on a very satisfying 25 years of SEC
and what it is today.
S. M. has been involved in all areas of the
entertainment industry (including construction) for over 30 years and in his early college years,
he worked as a college concert promoter. During these years, he produced
numerous concerts in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama,
Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
S. M., a marketing major, has had experience
in Media, Marketing, Corporate Positioning, Advertising, Public
Relations, Public Affairs, Crisis Management, and Issues Management. As
president of his own Advertising & Public Relations Company (SMG)
and talent agency Selbon Entertainment Management International (SEMI™),
S. M. has the day-to-day responsibility for the management and direction
of SMG Advertising & Public Relations, and in SEMI™, managing
new talent. S. M. has taken on the responsibility of helping the new
and neglected talent that larger record companies have overlooked.
We believe, at SEC, that the small urban areas and surrounding countryside
also have talent.
S. M.'s particular expertise lies in the
analysis of complex communications environments and the development
of effective creative solutions. To assist in this he has developed
a computer program.
S. M., the "Music Man," has been
around the Music industry all of his life. His father,
William
M. Nobles, gave him his first musical look. He also taught him
the "ins and outs" and the "ups and downs" of
the industry. S. M.'s father performed under the professional
name, Billy Myles. Billy
was a singer and writer with the hits, "The
Joker" and "Honey Bee." Both were performed on the Ed
Sullivan Show in the Fifties. Billy has written for Eric Clapton,
Jackie Wilson, Johnny Mathis, Hank Ballard and many others. S. M. had
the opportunity during this period to experience the "record business" at
work and to perfect his skills.
S. M. has also worked with Norwood & Norwood
("N&N"), the management company for Brandy and ray-j.
The valuable time spent at N&N gave S. M. the opportunity to manage
the group "Silk".
The management company, SEMI™ was
formed after S. M. toured with the Electra Record Company recording
group. "Silk" achieved great success with their third album "Tonight",
upon return from a short absence from the recording industry. The group
has since thrilled audiences nationwide.
S. M, lived in
Greenville, North Carolina learning and
managing the
music publishing company, Selbon Music
Inc. ('Nobles' spelled backwards). S. M. subsequently moved to Atlanta
and still lives in the area.
William M. "Bo" Nobles, aka
Billy Myles the founder of
Selbon Music Publishing, died in October 2005.
